Evaluation of Hygiene Practices hands in the staff of Lubumbashi Public Hospitals In Dr Congo

The objective of this study was to evaluate the practice of hand hygiene in maternity wards of public hospitals in Lubumbashi. We conducted a cross descriptive study whose population consisted of a share technical rooms of maternity hospitals and operating rooms for caesarean sections and other nurses responsible for these pregnancies. The observation technique using an observation guide of the WHO model has allowed us to collect data Hand hygiene was not properly carried out in maternity wards of public hospitals in Lubumbashi. Most of the pre-need before hand washing and alcohol-based hand rub was not respected,Surgical wash hands prior were observed at 21.4% in this case: theE port, short sleeve dress (43.0%), no jewelry (78.6%), short nails without polish and false nails without (50.0%).A lack of SHA (71.4%) for the friction, they used denatured alcohol (28, 6%). The duration of soaping and friction was in the range between 11 to 20 seconds 42.9% and the hygienic hand washing was observed at 28.6%. The duration of surgical and antiseptic handwashing ranged 21 to 40 seconds35.7%. Only 21.4% of respondents had used the services antiseptic foaming solution with broad spectrum, no structure had a sterile disposable brush for hygienic and surgical hand washing, 2/14 services surveyed were sterile single-use towels the water used was not known bacteriological control and only a service or 7.1% who had not manually operated garbage. Hand hygiene is not properly carried out in maternity wards of public hospitals in Lubumbashi, lack of equipment and knowledge of this practice, it must provide the equipment and train staff on hand hygiene.
