Prevalence of Escherichia Coli Among Urinary Tract Infections Patients (aged 0-70 years) Attending Hadejia General Hospital, Jigawa State-Nigeria

Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) are one of the most common nosocomial infections after Respiratory Tract Infections (RTIs) worldwide. Nowadays it represents one of the most common diseases encountered in medical practice affecting people of all ages from the neonate to the geriatric age group. The aim of this research work was to find the prevalence of Escherichia Coli among Urinary Tract Infections patients (0-70 years) attending Hadejia General Hospital, Jigawa State-Nigeria between August and September, 2019. A total of One hundred (100) urine samples comprising of 42(42%) in female and 58(58%) in male were obtained from the patients with age ranged from 0-70 years and analyzed. Samples collected were cultured and incubated at 37C for 24 hours. Isolation and Identification of bacteria was done by standard laboratory procedures.
